About

The Association of First Nations Australians in Development (AFNAD) provides a safe and culturally respectful platform for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australians within Australia’s development sector.

AFNAD provides space for First Nations development practitioners (or those interested in the development sector) to network, share knowledge, work together to solve problems, cultivate best practice and foster innovation.

We are an independent network that is completely free for First Nations Australians to join.

Governance

AFNAD was founded as an informal network in 2022, before registering as a legally incorporated entity in 2023. The association is governed by a committee of five members, all of whom identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander. AFNAD’s broader membership base meet annually to hold an AGM and elect the committee members who will govern AFNAD throughout the year.
