PURPOSE
The primary function of AFNAD is to provide a safe and culturally respectful networking platform for development practitioners who identify as Fist Nations Australians. While AFNAD does not intend to increase the cultural burden of its members, strategic guidance and/or advisory services may at times be provided to external development stakeholders if and where appropriate, and at the full discretion of AFNAD members. AFNAD may at times advocate for socially just, inclusive, and safeguarding measures where development policies and practices impact the lives of First Nations communities, or those of marginalised ethnic minorities and other Indigenous peoples within the Asia Pacific region.
To support these functions AFNAD members will:
- Be respectful of the cultural beliefs and practices of all AFNAD members
- Act in a collegial and collaborative manner when discussing and resolving issues; and
- Respect the confidentiality of the network proceedings.
