AFNAD members present at DFAT’s First Nations Development Yarning Circle Seminar

November 2023

All AFNAD members were invited to participate in DFAT’s First Nations Development Yarning Circle Seminar Series. The event was the first of the series, with the dual purpose of:

  • Establishing new pathways for engagement with First Nations development practitioners and;

  • Starting to develop more practical guidance for program areas that are seeking to embed First Nations experience and interests in development programs.

The session was facilitated by the First Nations Task Force, with other attendees representing a broad cross-section of DFAT divisions. Two of our committee members, Alice Tamang and David Poulton spoke alongside the First Nations Ambassador, Justin Mohamed, and Murrawin’s Carol Vale before opening the session for an informal yarn between AFNAD and DFAT attendees.
